At Camp T, we believe that great programs start with great people. One of the ways we ensure our campers receive the highest quality experience is by investing in the professional growth of our staff team. Throughout the year, our staff members participate in conferences, workshops, and trainings that help them bring new ideas, best practices, and fresh energy back to camp.

This winter and spring have been especially full of learning opportunities for our team!

In February, Amber attended (and presented at!) the American Camp Association (ACA) National Conference, one of the largest gatherings of camp professionals in the country. The conference brings together leaders from camps across the world to share innovative program ideas, discuss emerging trends in youth development, and explore ways to strengthen safety, inclusion, and leadership within camp communities. Amber returned with new insights and connections that will help us continue to grow and improve the camp experience for every camper.

Also in February, Carmen and Gracie represented our team at the Michigan After School Partnership (MASP) Annual Conference. This event focuses on best practices in youth programming, learning environments, and community engagement. By participating in sessions with educators and youth development professionals from across the state, Carmen and Gracie gained valuable tools and ideas that help strengthen the programs we offer both during the summer and throughout the year.

Right now, several members of our leadership team – Brenda, Carmen, Jules, Lee, and Mich – are attending the American Camp Association (ACA) Tri-State Conference. This gathering provides camp professionals with hands-on learning, leadership development, and opportunities to collaborate with other camps. It is the largest gathering of camp professionals in the world! Conferences like this allow our staff to exchange ideas, learn new strategies, and stay current on industry standards that keep camp programs safe, engaging, and meaningful for young people.

And the learning doesn’t stop there. Next week, Amber, Lee, Brendan, and Avery will attend the Buckeye Leadership Workshop, a program dedicated to developing leadership skills and strengthening the impact of youth programs. Workshops like this focus on teamwork, communication, and the values that help young people grow into confident leaders.

Professional development is more than just attending conferences; it’s about bringing back knowledge that directly benefits our campers. Each training, workshop, and conversation helps our staff refine programs, improve safety practices, and create new opportunities for campers to learn, grow, and have fun.

We are proud of the dedication our staff shows to continuous learning. Their commitment to growing as leaders ensures that Camp remains a place where young people can build skills, develop confidence, and create unforgettable memories.

And most importantly, everything our staff learns ultimately comes back to camp, making every summer even better than the last!
